European company registry API
Short answer: Call GET https://api.wsystem.dev/company?q=552032534&country=FR with a company name or registry number. The API queries the official register for that country and returns legal name, registry ID, active status, address, VAT ID, activity code and a source link. Supported directly: FR, NO, FI, CZ, PL (by KRS number), EE; other countries via the GLEIF LEI database.
Key facts
- France: INSEE Sirene via recherche-entreprises.api.gouv.fr (SIREN/SIRET or name).
- Norway: Brønnøysund Register Centre (org.nr or name). Finland: PRH/YTJ (Y-tunnus). Czechia: ARES (IČO). Poland: KRS (by KRS number). Estonia: e-Business Register open data.
- Other countries (DE, NL, IT, ES, …): GLEIF LEI records, which cover companies that have an LEI only.
- Hungary, Germany and several others do not offer a free, reusable official registry API; we do not scrape them.
- Batch:
POST /company/batch, up to 25 queries.

Questions and answers
Is there one API for all EU business registers?
No official one with free reusable data for every country. BRIS/e-Justice links registers for humans. W System covers six registers directly plus GLEIF LEI.
Can I get the VAT number from a company registry number?
For France, yes (vat_id is derived from the SIREN). For others it depends on what the register publishes.
Can I look up German or Hungarian companies?
Only via GLEIF if they have an LEI. The German and Hungarian registers do not offer a free reusable API.
