Short answer: the box below asks the production API right now. Official upstream services (VIES, EOS, national registers) have their own outages; when one is down we say so in the answer (member_state_unavailable) instead of guessing.

Monitoring record

An automated check runs about every hour: it loads every public page of wsystem.dev in a real desktop and mobile browser, checks the API health endpoint and the live demo, and verifies TLS certificates. Record so far: 66 of 66 hourly runs passed between 2026-10-20 06:59 and 2026-10-25 19:06 (Europe/Budapest time; the record has gaps when the monitor itself was not running, e.g. 22 to 25 October). Open incidents: none. Closed incidents: 1. Every deploy of the API and the site must pass the same check before and after it goes live, or it is rolled back automatically.

Closed incidents

• 2026-10-23: API restarted twice after exceeding its memory limit

23 October 2026: the API restarted twice (16:46 and 22:54 CEST, about 15 seconds of failed requests each time) after a burst of parallel sanctions-screening calls exceeded its memory limit. The cause was fixed in version 0.3.37 on 25 October.

What we promise, and what we don't yet

• No contractual SLA today. The Terms of service say the service is provided as is without an availability guarantee. If you need an SLA, email us: we will tell you honestly what we can commit to.
• Upstream outages are reported, never hidden: a VIES or member-state outage returns member_state_unavailable or a clearly flagged fallback from an official national source (PL, CZ, FI, FR) or the last dated VIES result. See how fallbacks work.
• Incidents: we follow a written incident response plan (detect, triage within 24 hours, contain, fix, review) described on the security page.
• Hosting: the API runs on Render (EU region, Frankfurt), the website on Cloudflare Pages. Data sources are listed on data sources and licences.
